GIVE BACK, Â AND DESIGN FOR A DIFFERENCE (DFAD)
I am proud to be an ambassador of DFAD,  the first community based, design-driven movement that makes over much needed spaces at local charities in the U.S. and Canada. The work is done pro-bono by designers who not only design but also coordinate the projects. Working with local showrooms and suppliers we are able to make significant changes in a short period of time. Below are links to two local makeovers that made a big impact on the people they served, as well as the hearts of everyone who worked so hard to pull them off.
OPERATION BREAKTHROUGH
A basement in need of an overhaul - year one we tackled four rooms and and two halls, year two we made a makers-space.
This makeover consisted of multiple rooms which served both the children and the parents who use OB's services and these spaces daily.  A life transforming makeover that will bring a tear to your eye...click learn more to see the made-over spaces and to watch a short video that captures it all. From our hard work to the shocked and grateful families, it doesn't get better than this.
KVC
Young Kids Cottage at the KVC Prairie Ridge Psychiatric Hospital
At KVC we tackled an after-hospital cottage for kids who were not quite ready to return home after their in-patient stay.  Everything from the group space to kids bedrooms needed to be refreshed and made happy.  We couldn't be prouder of all of our hard work.
